技巧一 —— 巧用Modal Verbs

在与老外交流时，尽量多用一些情态动词（Modal Verbs），比如can (could), may (might), must, need, ought to,shall (should), will (would) 。根据场合，情景来适当弱化或者强化自己的语气，来达到自己想要表达的目的和意思。

其中would, could, may or might这四个词最常用于软化请求或者命令。

例如：

技巧二 —— 常用Softeners

当我们否定别人一个意见或者拒绝别人的请求时，多半会比较不好意思，所以为了表达我们的歉意或者为难，多会在语句中应用一些softeners（软化词）。

比如：|To be honest|,|I’m afraid|,|With all respect|,|I’m so sorry|,|unfortunately|,|If possible|等等。

To be honest, I think we need to rethink our marketing strategy.

With all respect, I don’t agree with what you just said.

其实上述讲法，虽然采用了softeners，但实际上还是不够软化，尤其是第二句，再怎么respect，所表达的最终还是“don’t agree”这个词。那么如何在表达否定或者拒绝时尽量弱化否定语态呢？否定或者拒绝的话可以采用以下词组以使表达更加积极，而不是给人硬邦邦的感觉。请看以下例子，语气渐进，读读哪一个听起来让人更舒服？
